APPA: 2016 Keystone bullet premiere

APPA was a custom, client contracted pre-purchase completed in December 2022.

Our client contracted us to find her the perfect RV to travel and live in full-time while working as a travel nurse. We exchanged photos of floorplans until deciding on a 2016 Keystone Bullet Premiere Ultra-lite with a kitchen island for a home-like atmosphere and a seating area across from the TV for loungy days off. It was also light enough to meet her tow capacity specifications.

Next we started communicating about the style and design wants of our client. She wanted a modern, light, boho feel with lots of light to medium natural wood tones. We again exchanged photos and developed a portfolio of sorts of how we would execute her choices in paint, flooring, hardware, lighting, and styles in each room. We were working with a mix of French, Scandinavian and Boho inspiration photos and once we got it down, we got started!

To modernize a boho look, we borrowed clean lines with white and black accents from Scandinavian aesthetics. We then wove in texture with wood tones and patterns to layer in the comfy boho vibe. Our client chose a French Blue tile with terra cotta grout for backsplashes in the kitchen and bathroom. We continued these blue and rust accents throughout the design with textiles for a boho feel. Our client requested a neutral backdrop so that colors could easily be swapped out in the future so we kept the cabinets and bead board feature walls a soft beigy white.

We did very little demo or buildout however did add many custom features throughout. All cabinets with glass or mirror inserts were replaced with a natural caning. The kitchen island was wrapped in oak pole wrap and stained in Golden Oak with a satin wax finish. The kitchen island was custom built and finished in our shop along with the butcher block countertops. We prefer to use pine for our countertops for a few reasons. Pine is lightweight, economical, and takes color well. We stained the pine counters in Golden Oak and finished in layers of resin epoxy to achieve durability and a water resistant surface. We then lightly sanded the surface to knock down the hard glossy “bar top” glare to a soft matte finish.

In the bathroom, we took a lot of time sourcing a replacement shower to fulfill our client’s request for a French Toulan shower. We ended up piecing it together from different sources but in the end made it happen! We weren’t able to go with a square shower pan due to the size restrictions in the bathroom. So we compromised and kept the same shape of neo angle shower kit and replaced the shower pan, doors, faucet and surround. The shower doors came clear and so we applied an auto-detailing vinyl tape in a grid-like pattern to achieve the look our client was going for.

In the bedroom we installed an ombre slat headboard to bring a Scandinavian touch into this room. To get an ombre effect, we cut incremental varying spacers to be used during installation for uniform and straight lines. We incorporated a half wall bead board feature opposite the headboard leaving space for artwork to be displayed. We kept lighting bright and sleek with touch activated lights for ease of use when relaxing in bed.

Walls: Whisper White by Behr

Cabinets: White Mocha by Behr

Caning: We were very happy with the quality of this caning! It comes in a 16” width which is perfect for cabinet inserts without a lot of waste.

Bedroom Reading Lights: These are small but mighty! Beautifully designed and super user friendly with touch activation and multiple brightness settings. They even have USB charging ports!

Kitchen Faucet: This faucet was so perfect for Appa! We were needing to weave in black detailing to keep the appliances from looking out of place with the brass cabinetry pulls and this faucet did the job and then some with a beautiful, sleek design!

Bathroom Faucet: GAAAH! Had. To. Have. This faucet is GORGEOUS and adds so much character and personality to this reno. If you love it. You just LOVE it!

Island Pendant Lights: When modernizing a boho look for Appa, we decided to bring in some Scandinavian style for its clean line and leanings towards white and black aesthetics. These pendant lights have all that and do exactly what we needed them to do for this design. They also have a downward facing light which is nice and soft creating a soothing atmosphere.
